The Blocker Burn Unit has been an American Burn Association-verified burn center since 1999. Verified Burn Centers have met the highest standards of care for the burn-injured patient. The verification process incorporates principles of quality assurance and continuous improvement.
The purpose of burn center verification is to maintain burn center quality by promoting patient safety, cost containment, regional education and outreach, injury prevention, innovation, research and advocacy.
The Blocker Burn Unit specializes in the treatment of thermal, chemical and radiation burns, as well as research related to burns, trauma, sepsis and tissue repair. It has the highest survival rate of patients with major burn injury—greater than 80%—of all hospitals in the United States.
The American Burn Association is dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by burn injury by promoting and supporting burn-related research, education, care, rehabilitation and prevention.
