    Medical providers can trust UTMB for their patients' infusion therapy needs, with comprehensive support and expert care throughout every step of the process. Providers can easily refer their patients through EPIC, using “Consult/Referral for Infusion Therapy.”

    Please note treatment cannot be scheduled directly by patients. A referral from your physician is required. Please contact your doctor or one of our offices for assistance.

  • What are the side effects of infusion therapy?
    Your safety and well-being are our top priorities. While common side effects like nausea, headache, fatigue, or mild allergic reactions may occur, rest assured that our experienced medical team will closely monitor you throughout your treatment. We are fully prepared to address any adverse effects promptly and ensure you receive the safest, most effective care possible.
  • What should I expect during the infusion?
    You can expect to receive attentive care from our dedicated infusion team throughout your treatment. You will sit in a comfortable chair while the infusion is administered through an IV line. To ensure you feel informed and at ease, a member of the team will explain the treatment process in detail and provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.  
  • Do I need to do anything to prepare for my infusion?
    To better prepare for your upcoming treatment, you may be advised to drink plenty of water and avoid eating a heavy meal before your treatment. We recommend you wear comfortable clothing and bring a book or device to help you relax, and ensure your time is pleasant.
  • How long will the infusion take?
    Rest assured, your visit will be as smooth and comfortable as possible. Depending on the treatment, infusion times can vary widely ranging from 30 minutes to several hours. To ensure you have a proper expectation of your visit, your healthcare team will provide a clear estimate beforehand. Rest assured, your visit will be as smooth and comfortable as possible.
  • What should I do if I feel unwell during or after the infusion?
    Your health and well-being remain our top priority at every step. If you feel unwell at any point during the infusion, please inform staff immediately – we are here to serve you.  After the infusion, if you notice anything unusual or have concerns, contact your healthcare provider promptly for guidance.
