    Tours of the Labor & Delivery unit in the UTMB Health John Sealy Hospital will take place every Sunday at noon and 4 p.m.*

    Call the Labor & Delivery Registration desk at (409) 772- 2893 to check availability and schedule your tour.

    Tours will be between 30 and 45 minutes long and will cover Labor & Delivery on the 3rd and 4th floors, High Risk OB on the 10th floor and the Mother Baby Units on the 5th floor.

    Only four moms will be permitted to take the tour, and each mom is allowed to bring one visitor with them for a max of eight people per tour.

    Free parking with validation

    Park in the Hospital Parking Garage on University Boulevard between Texas Ave. and Darrell Royal Ave. After parking, walk to and enter the front of the R. Waverley Smith Pavilion.

    Once inside, follow the signs to John Sealy Hospital and take the elevators to the 3rd floor Labor & Delivery Registration Desk.


    About the Galveston Labor & Delivery spaces

    UTMB Health offers exceptional care for mothers and their healthy newborns at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Our newly renovated Labor and Delivery unit includes spacious birthing suites and mother/baby rooms that offer a family-centered birth experience.

    Here, families stay in the same room throughout labor, delivery and immediate recovery, then move to a mother/baby room until discharged. These rooms can comfortably accommodate family members and caregivers including physicians, midwives, nurses, and the pediatric team.

    Specialized care and amenities:

    • Couplet Care is provided by a nurse who cares for both the mother and her baby during their stay. This nurse is specialized in caring for the family as a unit and providing breastfeeding support during these important first days.
    • Comfort amenities in each suite with convertible sleep chairs, a refrigerator, and a flat-screen TV.
    • Spacious suites with private bathroom and walk-in shower.

  • Clear Lake Campus Birthing Suites Tours

    UTMB Health offers exceptional care for mothers and their newborns. Here, we take a family-centered approach to care throughout the birthing experience. Specialized care and amenities include:

    • Couplet Care provides a nurse who cares for both the mother and her baby during their stay. This nurse is specialized in caring for the family as a unit.
    • Dedicated lactation consultants are available to provide breastfeeding support during these important first days.
    • Spacious birthing suites with comfort amenities in each suite including a sofa-bed and large windows for plenty of natural light.

  • Angleton Danbury Campus Birthing Suites Tours

    The Angleton Danbury Campus offers exceptional care for mothers and their healthy newborns. Here, families stay in the same birthing suite throughout their birthing experience. Specialized care and amenities include:

    • Over-sized rooms so mom and baby can stay together.
    • Couplet Care provides a nurse who cares for both the mother and her baby during their stay. This nurse is specialized in caring for the family as a unit and providing breastfeeding support during these important first days.
    • Each room is designed to meet moms’ needs including space for personal care items. Comfort amenities in each suite include comfortable gliders for patients or guests to relax, sofa bed for an overnight guest, large windows in patient rooms and large patient restrooms with spacious showers.
