Who will deliver your baby at UTMB Women’s HealthCare?

We’re so happy that you’ve decided to have your baby at UTMB. One of the most frequently asked questions from patients is “Who will deliver my baby?”

Because of the nature of 24/7 coverage, our physician group rotates “on-call” coverage in our hospital.  Though each of our doctors would like to be able to promise he/she will deliver your baby, your doctor can not be available 24 hours a day. Our private UTMB Women’s HealthCare Group rotates the call among themselves for night time and week-end call, so it might be possible that you would be delivered by one of the other faculty physicians within the group.

If you are scheduled for an induction or C-section, our goal is to schedule your procedure on a day when your doctor is on call, and she/he will deliver your baby during those times.

But one thing holds true for all of our physicians -- they are all highly-skilled, compassionate caregivers who love to deliver babies!
