The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program

Your partner in HIV health

The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration and supported by the Texas Department of State Health Services, provides a comprehensive system of HIV primary medical care, medications, and essential support services for low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

UTMB Health’s Infectious Diseases team proudly participates in the Ryan White Program. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families affected by HIV through compassionate healthcare, education, and supportive resources.

Who Was Ryan White?

Ryan White was a teenager who became a national symbol for HIV/AIDS awareness after being diagnosed with AIDS in the 1980s. His courage and advocacy helped change perceptions of the disease and inspired the creation of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. Today, the program ensures access to care for people living with HIV across the country.
