Dermatology at UTMB Health

The mission of our dermatology clinics is to serve you and your family, by providing the highest standard of care in a friendly and comforting environment. We're proud of our long history of providing exceptional service to Texans and patients from surrounding states.

Our physicians, nurses and staff are dedicated to serving patients in a timely, attentive and courteous manner. Because our faculty members are part of an academic medical center that trains other physicians and medical students, they are skilled in using and offering the most current diagnostic methods and treatments available.

We hope we have the opportunity to serve you soon.

UTMB Health's Department of Dermatology features faculty physicians who are actively involved in patient care, offering expertise in:

  • general dermatology (treatment of all diseases of the skin, hair, and nails);
  • dermatologic surgery including Mohs surgery for skin cancer;
  • pediatric dermatology;
  • cosmetic dermatology; and
  • dermatopathology.

Members of our department have a special interest and expertise in the treatment of skin cancers, moles, acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), collagen vascular diseases such as lupus and dermatomyositis, and skin infections

Our department has pioneered the use of light treatments or phototherapy for the treatment of numerous skin diseases such as psoriasis, vitiligo, and T-cell lymphomas. Narrow band UVB, PUVA, and photodynamic therapy (PDT) are presently available.

Multiple cosmetic procedures are offered in our department including Fraxel laser used for improvement in the appearance of aging skin and for treatment of scars, and lasers for the treatment of dilated blood vessels, brown spots and for hair removal. Chemical peels to help skin look younger and healthier are also offered.

Faculty members have expertise in treatments using injectables including Botox®, Restylane, Radiesse, Sculptra, Perlane, Juvederm and Belotero. Injections to remove unsightly spider veins are also offered.

The UTMB Department of Dermatology will be hosting free skin cancer screenings this Saturday, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the UTMB Health Dermatology Clinic in League City, 2785 Gulf Freeway South, Suite 165 (by HEB and Kohl’s).

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends an annual skin cancer screening for all adults.

If you have a family history of skin cancer or have history of sun exposure, it's an even better idea to have an annual skin check.
