If you are a woman age 40 and older, UTMB Health recommends that you perform regular self-exams of your breasts and also have annual screening mammograms, regardless of family history. Screening mammograms remain among the most effective methods for detecting breast cancer.

  2. DO NOT wear any deodorant, powder or lotion under your arms or around your breasts
  3. Wear a two-piece outfit (not a dress)
  4. Bring a list of dates and locations of previous breast screenings or mammograms
  5. Bring films and reports from previous imaging not performed at UTMB Health
