Opioid Overdose Assessment and Response Training

Community Overdose Response and Recovery Effort (CORRE) is a UTMB-student led venture that wants to enable the Galveston community to prevent opioid overdose deaths. CORRE is currently offering overdose assessment and naloxone administration training and developing a communication platform for individuals in Galveston County to respond to and report overdoses.

Participants will learn how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. Naloxone kits will be provided.


Did you know?

  • September 21, 2022, is National Opioid Awareness Day
  • More than 932,000 people have died from a drug overdose since 1999, with 107,000 of those occurring between December 2020 and December 2021
  • Preliminary data for 2022 shows nearly 80% of drug overdose deaths involve an opioid
  • Overdose is now the leading cause of death in US adults aged 18-49
  • Four out of every 10 pills on our streets are contaminated with fentanyl and sold to unsuspecting victims

  • Be aware that opioid overdose can be reversed with naloxone
  • Get trained on Naloxone Administration
  • Spread the word that Naloxone saves lives!
