Geriatric Services

Meeting the Special Needs of Older Patients

In addition to a wide range of outpatient and community outreach services, UTMB’s Geriatric Services has established a one-of-a-kind Acute Care for Elders (ACE) unit at Jennie Sealy Hospital for older persons who require hospitalization. The ACE unit is designed so that patients receive their hospital care in a more home-like setting that includes patient rooms with comfortable furniture and more than enough space for family members to spend the night.

We understand that aging often means challenging health care needs for older adults, and we know that a specialized team who understands the complexities of aging can provide the best health care. Our Geriatric Health Care team has therefore been designed to bring you a specialized team of dedicated professionals. The ranges of services at our clinics are uniquely comprehensive and include geriatric assessments, primary care and specialty clinics.
