Patient Testimonials

We thrive on providing great care, the latest solutions, on exceeding our patient's expectations, and on bringing relief, solutions and good health to those we serve.

We'd love to hear from you how we're doing. Let us know.

It's been over a year since Dr. Tristi Muir changed my life for the better by performing retropubic urethral sling surgery on me. For over 15 years my bladder control slowly deteriorated to the point of embarrassment. To keep from having constant leakage I limited my fluid intake which led to frequently reoccurring constipation and possible future kidney problems.

Immediately upon waking from surgery I had complete control. I had no pain or UTIs in the weeks and year that followed because she instructed me on how to completely empty my bladder at every urination so there was no build up to cause infections.

I no longer suffer from leakage when I sneeze, cough, exercise or lift moderate weights such as groceries and grand babies. I can wear slacks that fit nice and do not show an unsightly bulge from a huge pad. I am free to travel more without needing to pack half a suitcase with incontinent pads or put a plastic sheet under the hotel or cruise line bed sheet to protect their mattress. I can now sleep through the night without having to go to the bathroom. But best of all, my married sex life has returned after many years of abstinence for fear of urinating in my husband's embrace.

I was confident in my doctor and her team because of her many years of experience and successful results. I researched the procedure and determined that the widely promoted lawsuits aired on TV on urethral slings were not the same.

I want to thank my GP for recommending Dr. Muir. She has literally changed my future for the better.

I owe the world to you two, and I want you to know that words can never express my gratitude for the way you both have helped me along the way through the years, and the respect you always treat me with!
I am a lucky gal to be in the care of doctors like you!

I was nervous when I first came in, as (Dr. Jurnalov) has such a deep voice. After speaking to him he put me at ease and ultimately changed my life. I can now participate in conversations without having to leave to go to the bathroom. I can now sleep all night and my overall health is improved as a result. I would recommend Dr. Jurnalov  to anyone, he is a big “teddy bear” with a warm heart. Best doctor I have ever been to.

Dr. Muir literally changed how I live. I had no idea that I could live so freely (by not having to be so careful about leaking, or extreme periods.) My only regret is that I didn’t have this surgery sooner than I did.

I believe many women suffer in silence because they're ashamed or scared. Dr. Muir and her team made me feel extremely comfortable when I came to her clinic. I was very nervous and scared but they were so caring and patient with me. I am so glad I got this done; I feel so much better physically and emotionally.

My surgery date was in August 2011. All of the hospital personnel treated us so well. The nurses in the day surgery department were outstanding, especially Cindy and a second nurse who was also very attentive. The professionalism exhibited in the surgery suite had a very calming effect, as I was being prepped for anesthesia. Our time there (at UTMB Galveston) was a totally satisfying experience. Of course, the surgery was a complete success. Thank you, Dr. Muir.

Extremely knowledgeable, patient and share information in a way you can understand it. Efficiency is the feeling in the entire office.

Dear Dr. Hansen, I appreciate the time you spent with me. It is refreshing to FINALLY connect with a physician who is easy to talk to, does not rush you, and seems truly interested in what the patient has to say.

“Just had my second visit with Dr. Hansen . She is wonderful, easy to talk to, explains things well and takes her time with you. She is a great asset and addition to the UTMB family of physicians.   Her staff is also very friendly, helpful and easy to joke around with.”

The service and care I have received at the Pelvic Health and Continence Center have been absolutely outstanding, from the surgeons and the physical therapists, to the people who register. I have received therapy for nearly a year after surgery and each time was given excellent treatment. My questions were always fully answered, and everyone (especially Starr) was very concerned with my progress. I feel that I have received the best care possible for my health problems.

After several years of experiencing incontinence, I finally made an appointment with the Pelvic Health and Continence Center at UTMB-Victory Lakes. Dr. Muir was absolutely the most gracious and genuine person I’d encountered, making me feel very comfortable and confident that she could help me. After three months, I feel confident enough that I no longer feel I need to wear protection from leaks. The physical therapy was helpful immediately; the therapists were simply awesome in teaching me how to improve my incontinence. The most amazing thing was how comfortable they all made me feel. I highly recommend this clinic. If you suffer from incontinence, don’t wait; visit them right away. You will be amazed. Thank you so much.

I am very pleased with the progress I have made with therapy received from Carla and Jean at UTMB. These ladies have made a great difference in the way I feel. My back pain today is 2 on a scale of 10; I had to use the toilet only once last night. Thank you for your help.

After treatment by Dr. Muir, I feel I have an 80% improvement in the quality of my life.

During my recent surgery at UTMB Victory Lakes, I found all the staff to be professional, helpful and very friendly. It made the experience pleasant instead of stressful. Thanks to Dr. Tristi Muir and all her wonderful staff.

I started taking physical therapy for my pelvic condition two months ago. My physical therapist was Mrs. Starr Stanich, she changed my life completely. I am cured 100%. Mrs. Starr taught me two exercises which had amazing results. I was nervous, scared and uncomfortable at first. Just the thought of physical therapy in my private part almost made me change my mind. Afterwards I could see my feelings almost got the best of me. It’s pretty much like a pap smear. Mrs. Starr is gentle and professional. I’m also thankful to Dr. Muir for requesting physical therapy instead of only prescribing medication. Dr. Muir wanted to fix my problem and put it behind me. I do not need medication at all. To anyone who has a problem with constant urination and no bladder control, as well as leaking during sneezing or laughing---you will be utterly happy.

Dr. Muir, I just wanted to let you know that I played soccer and shot basketball hoops this past weekend with my grandchildren. It was great not worrying if I would soak a pad or two. Thank you so much for being a great caring surgeon. Please thank your staff for all their assistance and I especially want to thank you and your nurses for making my visits comfortable and not awkward.

Dr. Muir and staff made me feel comfortable in an uncomfortable situation.

Care received was prompt and efficient. The staff in the operating room was efficient, especially the anesthesiologist Dr. Broussard. Dr. Muir is outstanding! My family member was also put at ease.

For the first time in years I did not get up during the night to my incontinence is insignificant.

My recovery has been rapid, painless and seems to be a complete success. You and your staff represent the best of UTMB Health.

Dr. Jurnalov, thank you for your kind gentle patience. I do so appreciate you. It's what makes you great.

I heard from an island acquaintance, one of the Pelvic Center's first patients during the first days they opened at the new site. First, she was favorably impressed by the new Victory Lakes facility and the staff who initially greeted and assisted her. Then she met with Dr. Muir, who in her words was "absolutely fantastic." Her glowing remarks and experience were so moving, it has me thinking about how I might get my mother here (she lives out of state) to get her care at UTMB.

Can't say enough about the care I have received--everything continued in one building. Dr. Muir was heaven sent and so was Eleanor and the staff. I can't say enough about the way they put me at ease. UTMB has done a wonderful thing by coming off the island and helping us Mainlanders!
