Transgender Care:

UTMB Health provides care for a diverse patient population. A new web page highlights resources for transgender and gender nonconforming patients and individuals seeking care. There are several clinical avenues available to assist patients in a variety of gender-related services, including multiple options for gender-affirming hormones.

PATIENT NAVIGATION

Patient Navigator

Patient Navigator Savannah Parks, M.Ed., LBSW (she/her/hers), is available to assist patients in the LGBTQIA+ community with access to quality health care in an accepting, supportive environment.

Savannah can help guide LGBTQIA+ patients and their families navigate the health system, assist with locating resources and help connect patients to providers comfortable with LGBTQIA+ needs, including evaluation for transgender hormone therapy and LGBTQIA+ family planning.

Savannah is also a point of contact for referring physicians. She can be reached at 409-266-7542 or lgbtqnav@utmb.edu, Mon. – Fri., 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

UTMB is an LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader in the Human Rights Campaign's 2018 Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) Resource Guide (PDF document). 626 health care facilities participated in the 2018 survey; 67% received this designation. UTMB received  full credit in the following areas: non-discrimination and staff training, patient services and support, and patient and community engagement.
