Clinical Services
The Division of Allergy and Immunology is a major referral center in the state of Texas for comprehensive diagnostic work-up and management of patients with allergic and immunologic diseases. The Allergy Division is renowned for its innovative approaches to helping patients with complex cases, and for communication promptly with referring physicians. The faculty members have been repeatedly named in the “Best Doctors of America” and are consistently ranked highly in the Press Ganey Survey on patient satisfaction.
Comprehensive patient care is provided for the following conditions:
- Moderate to severe bronchial asthma
- Difficult-to-manage allergic rhinitis and chronic sinusitis
- Refractory urticaria
- Angioedema
- Recurrent anaphylaxis
- Adult and pediatric immunodeficiency
- Mastocytosis
- Drug allergy
- Food allergy
- Eosinophilic disorders
- Pediatric autoimmune disorders
Clinical services of the Division are rendered through outpatient and inpatient consultative services. The Division has pioneered the use of telemedicine to manage patients with complicated asthma and other allergic disease.
Laboratory Services
The Division of Allergy and Immunology provides an array of laboratory services as part of its comprehensive patient care package. These services include:
- Immediate and delayed hypersensitivity skin testing
- Allergen Immunotherapy
- Pulmonary function testing
- Methacholine and exercise challenge
- Drug allergy testing and desensitization
- Oral food challenges
- Rhinoscopy
- Skin biopsy
- In vitro evaluation of immune system
