Urogynecology - Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery

Catalin Jurnalov, M.D.
Associate Professor

Dr. Jurnalov is a Clinical Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Division of Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. He earned his medical degree in 1992 from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, in Lexington, KY. Dr. Jurnalov then went on to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1996 at the same institution. He then completed a three-year Female Pelvic Health and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, from June 1997 to June of 2000. There, he was a recipient of the United Kingdom/United States Traveling Fellowship for 1999.

Dr. Jurnalov joined the faculty in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UTMB in July of 2000. In 2008 – 2009, Dr. Jurnalov completed his Certificate in Medical Management from the joint Baylor College of Medicine / Rice University program in the Jones School of Management and Executive Education. In May 2011, he completed his MBA with an emphasis on Management at the Jesse H. Jones School of Management at Rice University in Houston, TX.

Dr. Jurnalov is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and received his subspecialty board certification in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He completed the accreditation for the Fundamentals of Laparoscopy Surgery Program at UTMB in 2011.

Dr. Jurnalov has a clinical interest in all aspects of Urogynecology and female pelvic floor dysfunction, and is a proud team member of the UTMB Pelvic Floor and Continence Center based at the Victory Lakes location in League City.
Dr. Jurnalov and his wife, Sabrina, and their two children reside in League City.

Dr. Sami Kilic Dr. Sami Kilic was trained in minimally invasive surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital under the supervision of the pioneers in this field. He has worked at prestigious hospitals including Georgetown University, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Parkland Hospital; he transferred from MD Anderson Cancer Center to UTMB to join a vibrant team offering women minimally invasive gynecology and services related to pelvic health and urogynecology.

He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and also certified in Fundamental Laparoscopic Surgery by the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Kilic is a well-respected member of the Fellows of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and also the American College of Surgeons. He was one of the earliest recognized robotic gynecologic surgeons in the Houston area. Dr. Kilic is also pioneer of single-incision robotic hysterectomy.

As a subspecialist in urogynecology, Dr. Killic has a special interest in helping patients address urine incontinence (leakage) and pelvic prolapse. He is also active in student, resident, and physician training in all aspects of minimally invasive surgery. He has numerous publications and ongoing projects in the field featuring laboratory, non-human studies, and clinical research.

Make your Pelvic Health Appointment

To schedule and appointment please call 832-505-1600 or use our online appointment scheduler. 

Below are the forms we would like you to complete prior to and bring with you to your first appointment, which will last approximately one hour. An incontinence consultation and a pelvic examination will be performed by a Urogynecologist. In addition, diagnostic bladder testing may be performed to assist the team in developing a treatment plan. Education will be provided on bladder care habits, types of incontinence, treatments, and options. Further testing, such as anal manometry and referrals to other members of the multidisciplinary team may also be made during your first appointment. Follow-up appointments will be scheduled to evaluate progress and make adjustments, as needed.
